A Little Bit About Me…
Food has been the delicious through-line of my life. I am a chef, cookbook author, food
journalist, recipe developer, instructor, speaker and enthusiastic traveler – usually with a fork
and notebook close at hand.
Along the way, I have developed more than 20,000 recipes, written six cookbooks, presented at
the James Beard House, and made more than 180 television appearances. I have also trained
teams around the world, written award-winning food stories and tested more kitchen gadgets
than any one person reasonably needs.
Born in New Jersey, I come by my attitude honestly. I have done stand-up comedy, attended the
original Woodstock and saw the Beatles at Shea Stadium – so yes, I have a few stories.
I also stepped away from a career I loved for six years to care for my late husband, John, during
his journey with Alzheimer’s. That chapter taught me that love really is healthier than kale.
Now I am back to cooking, writing, traveling, teaching and following whatever feels interesting
next. Want the whole story? Read my full bio preferably with dessert.
It is my life…a story I write as I go.
